Post 4I was really pleased with the event on the 27th of March, it was great to see so many people there. I got lots of useful feedback on the work, and want to make a few modifications to the pieces in the next few days. I think that working with the materials at John Jones has opened up worlds of possibilities for the development of my work, and I have learned a lot about how people respond to work in different situations. The musicians who performed (Simon Allen, Nathan Thomson and Jim Howard) generated a lot of interest, but it was really difficult to hear their work in the space because of the numbers of people there. As a result we are planning a performance event later in the month (so watch this space...) and a series of talks about the work and the residency. The Project space is great for sound and music performance, so I hope that this will be a really interesting event with some of the best musicians working in the field of improvised music. (performing alone as well as alongside the pyrophones) We have been observing that the aluminium swarf which is bouncing around on the top of the Particle piece has now left a field of grey metal on the canvass, which is presumably changing day by day. I am fascinated by this, I wonder what it will look like by the end of the show. I'm also wondering about the potential for developing the idea - might have to order lots more canvasses from John Jones!
